FIIB celebrated its 18th Founder’s day on 21st February 2012 in the campus. The celebrations entailed a myriad of activities ranging from intellectual to philanthropic activities. The Founder’s Day is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Founder- Late Mr. R.K. Shrivastava, whose commitment to excellence in education is the very foundation of the Institute’s existence. A step in the direction of excellence was the launch of the FIIB Business Review on this day. Ms. Radhika Shrivastava, Executive Director, set the wheels rolling after an opening address on the key theme of Sustainability- the philosophy that is integral to every decision in the Institute.
The theme was beautifully underscored during the inaugural session in the addresses by Mr. Mehmood Khan, Former Chief Innovation Officer, Unilever and Chairman, Sustainability Development Centre of FIIB; Mr. Inderpreet S Wadhwa, CEO, Azure Power and Mr. Nitin Gupta, CEO & Founder, Attero Recycling.
Mr. Mehmood Khan in his speech expressed his confidence in India resurging as the number one economy given the demographic advantage, democratic orientation and vast potential to exploit alternative sources of energy. Mr. Wadhwa highlighted the efficacy and potential of solar power. Mr. Nitin Gupta iterated entrepreneurship and innovation as the key drivers of sustainable existence. [/one_half]
PANEL DISCUSSIONS
The subsequent technical session on Implementing Sustainability from Board Room to Shop Floor saw participation from Mr. Vinod Kala, Managing Director,Emergent Ventures; Mr. Hardayal Singh, Ex- Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Mumbai and Delhi, Mr. Uday Gosain, Sr. Manager, Lead – Business Sustainability Initiatives at FieldFresh Foods Pvt. Ltd and Mr. Adarsh Jain, CEO & Founder -SunSource Energy.
With a view to give the audience a glimpse of the newly launched FBR, Prof. Sunita Chugh, Editor-FBR walked the audience through a small presentation on the content and orientation of the Journal. She emphasized that the Journal was an attempt to bridge the long debated and lamented gap between management theory and practice. There were two paper presentation by the authors who have contributed their papers in the Journal; Prof. Swanand Deodhar presented on Monitoring IT for Environment Sustainability: A Maturity Model Approach and Prof. Sanjeev Vashney, Associate Professor and Area Chairperson Marketing at XLRI presented his paper titled Joy of Giving: Marketing for a Cause, A Case Study.
The day was as much a celebration of our accomplishments as it was a harbinger of new journeys the institute is ready to embark. A fulfilling day for everyone at FIIB, lots of memories to be treasured!
