21st February 2013 was a busy day at FIIB, as FIIB Management, Faculty, Staff and Students came together to celebrate the 19th Founder’s Day at FIIB. The celebrations involved a myriad of activities ranging from scholarly to humanitarian undertakings. The Founder’s Day is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Founder- Late Mr. R.K. Shrivastava, whose commitment to excellence in education is the very foundation of the Institute’s existence. A step in the direction of excellence was the third edition of the annual Sustainability Summit on FIIB Campus. The Summit was a joint effort of the Jaagriti – the social conscious club of the college and the Sustainability Development Center – SDC at FIIB.

Panel Discussion 1 – Implementing Sustainability from Board Room to Shop Floor
Key address was followed by a panel discussion on Implementing Sustainability from Board Room to Shop Floor. Speakers Dr. Annapurna Vancheswaran (Director Sustainable Development, Outreach Divison, TERI), Mr. Santanu Roy (General Manager, Corporate Planning, GAIL India Ltd), Mr. Pranshu Singhal (Head Sustainability, Nokia India) and Mr. Aveg Agarwal (Country Manager, FERSA) gave deep insights to the students which highlighted the theme of the Summit beautifully.
Panel Discussion 2 – Sustainability and Entrepreneurship: Turn Ideas into Projects, and Projects into Successful Businesses
Sitting through the next panel discussion Sustainability and Entrepreneurship: Turn Ideas into Projects, and Projects into Successful Businesses was also an amazing experience not only for the students and budding entrepreneurs but also for the faculty. Panelists Padma Bhushan Mr. Devendra Raj Mehta (Founder and Chief Patron,Jaipurfoot), Mr. Anshu Gupta (Founder Director, Goonj, Ashoka Fellow), Ms. Vasudha Mehta (Founder Member, Jaagrut), Mr. Saurav Bardhan (Founder Member, GreenBandhu) and Ms. Bharati Chaturvedi (Director, Chintan India) spoke about how their passion towards sustainability was the key inspiration for their undertakings which was encouraged all present in the room to consider sustainability as a key pillar for their ventures – a philosophy FIIB follows as well.
FIIB – The B School with Green Conscience
For many of us, the words sustainability conjures up images of smoke blowing factories, overflowing landfills, and many such other dangerous environmental hazards. However, in the last decade or so without any of us realizing, Sustainability has crept up on every aspect of our lives. The dictionary meaning of the word Sustainability is ‘the ability to endure’, and if used in the business/application sense, sustainability means protecting the environment while also elevating the social and economic status of everyone in the community.
